This impressive
hotel has a manic cleaner who stalks the corridors hunting down every speck of dirt and
wiping it out; dark-wood furniture that's been polished until it shines like a mirror; super-
comfortable beds; and piping-hot showers. On top of all that, there's a decent restaurant
and friendly service.

Lacking a sign and hidden up an alley
just north of Ethio Supermarket, this five-storey guesthouse is well looked after and
friendly. It's very popular with foreigners looking to adopt a local child. If you can over-
look the annoying fact that it's one of the only hotels in Addis to charge for internet usage
then you'll probably agree that it's a solid deal.

This shining white place offers one of the better deals in Addis. It's all very
clean, though the bathrooms are a little cramped. It's also well run and far enough from
the road to mean honking horns won't interrupt your sleep - too much! The sign is in Am-
haric only, so ask someone to point it out.

This colourful little
German-run backpackers has gained a name for itself as one of the better-value cheapies
in the city. All the rooms are impeccably clean, though some are a little poky, and there's a
pleasant courtyard restaurant to hang out in. All rooms share clean common bathrooms.
Be warned that there are lots of prostitutes in the vicinity of the hotel.
