1. Choose
Create > Light > Area Light
from the main menu; the
Light
object is created
in the Object Manager.
2. In the Attribute Manager, make sure the
General
button is chosen; the
General
area is
displayed. In this area, select
Shadow Maps (Soft)
from the
Shadow
drop-down list.
Next, enter
120
in the
Intensity
spinner.
3. Choose the
Coord
button; the
Coordinates
area is displayed. In this area, set the para-
meters as follows:

-30.043
4. In the Attribute Manager, choose the
Shadow
button; the
Shadow
area is displayed. In
this area, enter
49
in the
Density
spinner.
5. Choose the
Edit Render Settings
tool from the Command Palette; the
Render Settings
window is displayed. In this window, choose the
Effect
button; a flyout is displayed.
6. Choose
Ambient Occlusion
from this flyout; the
Ambient Occlusion
effect is enabled.
Next, close the
Render Settings
window.
7. Double-click on the Material Manager; a material with the name
mat
is created in the
Material Manager. Next, double-click on the
mat
material; the
Material Editor
dialog
box is displayed.
8. In this dialog box, clear the
Color
check box and then select the
Luminance
check box;
the
Luminance
area is displayed. In this area, enter
0
in the
R
,
G
, and
B
spinners asso-
ciated with the
Color
parameter. Next, close the
Material Editor
dialog box.
9. Drag the
mat
material from Material Manager to the
MoText
object in the Object Man-
ager; the material is applied to
MoText
.
10. Press CTRL+R to preview the render, refer to Figure 10-1. Figure 10-14 shows all ob-
jects in the Perspective viewport. Figure 10-15 shows all objects in the Object Manager.
