1. Select table lamp in the Object Manager and right-click on it; a shortcut menu is dis-
played . Choose Character Tags > Constraint from the shortcut menu; the Constraint
Expression [Constraint] tag is added in the Object Manager and the Constraint [Con-
straint] Settings area is displayed in the Attribute Manager.
2. In the Constraints area, select the Parent check box and choose the Parent button; the
Parent area is displayed. Next, choose the arrow button next to the Target edit box in
the Targets area; the shape of the cursor changes. Next, select main control in the Object
Manager; main control is constrained with table lamp . Now if you move main control ,
table lamp will move along with it, refer to Figure 7-27.
The Parent constraint is used to create a parent-child relationship between two or more
objects. The object selected in the Target edit box acts as a parent of the object to which
the constraint is applied.
3. Select support1 in the Object Manager and right-click on it; a shortcut menu is displayed.
Choose Character Tags > Constraint from the shortcut menu; the Constraint Expres-
sion [Constraint] tag is added in the Object Manager and the Constraint [Constraint]
Settings area is displayed in the Attribute Manager.
4. In the Constraints area, select the Parent check box and make sure the Parent button
is chosen. In the Parent area, choose the arrow button next to the Target edit box in the
Targets area; the shape of the cursor changes. Now, select support control in the Object
Manager; support control is constrained with support1 . Now, if you rotate support con-
trol , supports and lamp shade will rotate along with it, refer to Figure 7-28.
