Next, you will illuminate the scene.
6. Press and hold the left mouse button on the Light tool in the Command Palette; a flyout
with various tools is displayed, refer to Figure 6-3. Choose the Light tool from it; the
Light.1 object is added to the Object Manager.
7. Make sure Light.1 is selected in the Object Manager. In the Attribute Manager, choose
the General button; the General area is displayed. In this area, enter 50 in the Intensity
spinner and select Square Spot from the Type drop-down list. Next, select Shadow
Maps (Soft) from the Shadow drop-down list.
The options in the Type drop-down list are used to define the types of lights to be used in
a scene. The Square Spot option is best suited to cast a square-shaped light ray on the
surface.
8. In the Attribute Manager, choose the Coord button; the Coordinates area is displayed.
In this area, set the parameters as follows:
P . X: -500 P . Y: 500 P . Z: -500
R . H: -45 R . P: -35
9. Choose the Details button; the Details area is displayed. In this area, enter 145 in the
Outer Angle spinner.
Figure 6-5 displays Light.1 in the Perspective viewport.
