1. Double-click in the empty area of the Material Manager; a new material is created in the
Material Manager.
2. Double-click on the name Mat in the Material Manager; a text box is displayed. In this
text box, enter matGlass ; the new material is renamed as matGlass .
3. In the Attribute Manager, choose the Basic button; the Basic Properties area is dis-
played. In this area, select the Transparency check box.
4. Choose the Transparency button in the Attribute Manager; the Transparency area is
displayed. In this area, enter 92 in the Brightness spinner and 1.5 in the Refraction
spinner.
The Brightness spinner in the Transparency area is used to specify the transparency of a
3D surface. Lesser the value of brightness, more will be the transparency of the object.
The Refraction parameter is used to control the refractive index of the surface.
5. In the Attribute Manager, choose the Reflectance button; the Reflectance area is dis-
played. In this area, choose the Add button; a flyout is displayed. Now, choose Phong
from the flyout; a reflectance layer with the name Layer 1 is added.
6. In the Reflectance > Layer Color area, enter 5 in the Brightness spinner. Choose the
Default Specular button in the Reflectance area; the Default Specular area is dis-
played. In this area, enter 52 in the Width spinner and 15 in the Falloff spinner.
7. Press and hold the left mouse button on matGlass and then drag the cursor on the Glasses
group in the Object Manager; the matGlass is applied to Glasses in the Perspective
viewport, as shown in Figure 5-18.
Applying Texture to the Table Cover and Table Mats
In this section, you will apply texture to the table cover and table mats.
1. Double-click in the empty area of the Material Manager; a new material is created in the
Material Manager.
2. Double-click on the name Mat in the Material Manager; a text box is displayed. In this
text box, enter matCover ; the material is renamed as matCover .
