In this section, you will create the wick of
Candle
using the
Cylinder
tool.
1. Select
Standard
from the
Layout
drop-down list located in the extreme right corner of
the interface; the
Standard
layout is displayed. Choose
Create > Object
from the main
menu; a cascading menu is displayed. Choose
Cylinder
from it; a cylinder is created in
the Perspective viewport and the
Cylinder
object is added to the Object Manager.
2. Make sure the
Cylinder
is selected in the Object Manager. In the Attribute Manager,
choose the
Object
button; the
Object Properties
area is displayed. In this area, set the
parameters as follows:
Radius:

Height:
59
Height Segments:
25
3. Choose the
Coord
button; the
Coordinates
area is displayed. In this area, enter
174.8
in
the
P . Y
spinner.
4. In the Attribute Manager, choose the
Basic
button; the
Basic Properties
area is dis-
played. In this area, enter
Wick
in the
Name
text box; the cylinder is renamed as
Wick
in the Object Manager.
5. Make sure
Wick
is selected in the Object Manager and then choose the
Make Editable
tool from the Modes Palette;
Wick
is converted into a polygonal object.
6. Choose the
Bend
tool from the Command Palette; the
Bend
object is added to the Object
Manager.
7. Make sure
Bend
is selected in the Object Manager. Press and hold the left mouse button
on
Bend
and drag it to
Wick
in the Object Manager; the
Bend
object is connected to
Wick
in the Object Manager.
8. Make sure
Bend
object is selected in the Object Manager. In the Attribute Manager,
choose the
Object
button; the
Object Properties
area is displayed. In this area, enter
25
in the
Size X
,
Size Y
, and
Size Z
spinners and then set the other parameters as follows:
Strength:

Angle:
-16
Select the
Keep Y-Axis Length
check box in the
Object Properties
area.
The
Keep Y-Axis Length
check box is selected to maintain the length of the object even
after the deformation.
