Chapter 3
Introduction to Polygon Modeling
Learning Objectives
After completing this chapter, you will be able to:
• Create polygon primitives
• Work with various polygon modeling tools
INTRODUCTION
In the previous chapters, you learned to create 3D objects and shapes using the spline mod-
eling techniques. In CINEMA 4D, you can modify the objects at an advanced level by con-
verting them into editable polygons. The converted objects consist of sub-objects that can
be modified using the Move , Rotate , and Scale tools. The sub-objects are points, edges, and
polygons. In this chapter, you will learn to modify the objects at an advanced level by con-
verting them into polygons.
TUTORIALS
Before you start the tutorials of this chapter, you need to download the
c03_cinema4d_r16_tut.zip file from www.cadcim.com . The path of the file is as follows:
Textbooks > Animation and Visual Effects > MAXON CINEMA 4D > MAXON CINEMA 4D
R16 Studio: A Tutorial Approach
Next, you need to browse to \Documents\c4dr16 and create a new folder in it with the name
c03 . Next, extract the contents of the zip file in this folder.
Tutorial 1
In this tutorial, you will create 3D model of a computer mouse, as shown in Figure 3-1, using
the polygon modeling techniques. (Expected time: 35 min)
