In locations with lower annual irradiance such as Stuttgart, the required collector
surface per megawatt hour of cooling energy demand is higher.
The storage volumes are comparable with typical solar thermal systems for warm
water production and heating support and vary between 40 and 110 litre per square
metre of collector surface area, depending on the control strategy and cooling load file.
They increase with cooling energy demand for a given location. In moderate climates
with only occasional cooling energy demand, the storage volumes are generally higher
(see Figure 6.20).
