There are a couple of decent options for budget travellers as well as an excellent choice of
midrange and top-end accommodation. Most are located near the city centre, though a
couple of the budget options are near the main bus station.

niture. Romantic and peaceful, this may be the city's most charming place to get away
from the hubbub.

This stately monolith is the oldest established hotel in Malawi; opened in 1922 it
was a legendary stop for travellers on the Cape-to-Cairo route. With its wood-panelled
lobby, elegant restaurant, pool and gym and bar, it remains the premier choice of business
people.
Rooms deserve the four-star rating with stylish fittings, huge beds and sumptuous de-
