Mgoza Lodge $$

( 0995-632105; www.mgozalodge.com ; chalets US$55, dm MK1500; ) Cheap-
er and more low-key than nearby Gecko, Mgoza has bags of charm with brick-and-thatch
cottages spaced around a leafy garden. Rooms are spacious, cool and split-level with
wood-panel baths, pretty curtains, huge beds, and billowing step-in mozzie nets.
There's also an inviting restaurant with an upstairs viewing deck for sundowners. And
finally, the staff, run by Kay, are especially warm.

shaded. Come evening the bar stacks up with a lively crowd. It also holds the traveller
crown as Cape Mac's most popular midscale place to eat - probably thanks to its easy
vibe, tasty salads, pizza, and excellent chambo and kampango fish.

cing the beach just a few yards away, a spotless ablution block, and a cool bar piping out
Boney M. In fact with its tempting loungers and many hammocks, it feels like a slice of
Jamaica.
The cafe dishes up toasties, pasta and curries as well as decent breakfasts. You can also
hire snorkel gear here (US$5). Choose from simple huts constructed from reed mats, per-
