Mobile phone numbers are seven digits, preceded by 82 for Mcel, 84 for Vodafone and 86
for Movitel.
Do not use an initial zero; seven-digit mobile numbers listed with zero at the outset are
in South Africa, and must be preceded by the South Africa country code (27) when dial-
ling.
All companies have outlets in major towns where you can buy Sim-card starter packs
(Mtc50), fill out the necessary registration form, and buy top-up cards.

Mozambique time is GMT/UTC plus two hours. There is no daylight savings.
Visas
» Visas are required by all visitors except citizens of South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia,
Tanzania, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius and Zimbabwe.
» Single-entry visas (only) are available at most land and air entry points (but not any-
where along the Tanzania border) for Mtc2085 (or the US dollar equivalent) for one
month.
» To avoid long visa lines at busy borders, or for a multiple-entry visa, arrange your visa
in advance. If you're arriving in Maputo via bus from Johannesburg (South Africa) it's re-
commended (though not essential) to get your visa in advance.
» Fees vary according to where you buy your visa and how quickly you need it. The max-
imum initial length of stay available is three months. Same-day visa service is available at
several places including Johannesburg and Nelspruit (South Africa), but at a price.
