About 15km offshore across Túnguè Bay is idyllic
Tecomaji Island
. Just south of Te-
comaji is Rongui Island, followed by Vamizi Island. All are privately owned. Beaches in
town are not clean enough for swimming.
About 20km north of Palma is tiny Kiwiya junction, where a sandy track branches
about 17km seawards to
Cabo Delgado
(the point of land from which Cabo Delgado
province takes its name) and a lighthouse.

Getting There & Away
All transport leaves from the Boa Viagem roundabout at the town entrance. Some drivers
continue down to the main market.
Chapas
from Moçimboa da Praia en route to the Rovuma River pass Palma from about
6am (Mtc100 from Palma to the border). Transport from the Rovuma south to Moçimboa
da Praia passes through Palma from about 10am, and there's at least one vehicle from
Palma to Moçimboa da Praia each morning (Mtc150, one hour) along a good, graded road
that will soon be paved.
