Mozambique Island To Mozambique Island (Mtc140, three to four hours) chapas depart
between 5am and 11am from the Padaria Nampula transport stand along Avenida do Tra-
balho east of the train station. Look for one that's going direct; many go only to Monapo,
where you'll need to stand on the roadside and wait for another vehicle. The best connec-
tions are found on one of the tanzaniano chapas , which depart Nampula between about
7am and 10am, depending on how early they arrive from Mozambique Island, and which
continue more or less nonstop to the island. The Padaria Nampula transport stand is also
the place to find chapas to Mossuril, Namapa, and other points north and east.
Angoche Chapas go to Angoche (Mtc150, three hours) daily, departing from 4.30am from
Muahvire bairro, along the extension of Avenida das FPLM. Go over the small bridge and
continue all the way up the hill to the start of the Angoche road.
Beira TCO and Maning Nice both service Beira (Mtc1900, 16 hours) twice weekly.
Mocuba Chapas to Mocuba (Mtc350) leave from the 'Faina' area, about 2.5km west of
the train station along Avenida do Trabalho near the Ribáuè road junction, but it's faster to
take the Mecula bus to Quelimane and have them drop you off.
Cuamba It's possible in theory to get transport from the Faina area, although most people
go via Gurúè or by train.
Chimoio Maning Nice services Chimoio (Mtc1200) three times weekly.
Maputo TCO, Maning Nice and Nagi Trans all run to Maputo (Mtc2500, 30 hours) twice
weekly
Vilankulo There are no direct buses to Vilankulo. The best connection is Nampula to
Chimoio on Maning Nice, and then continuing from Chimoio to Vilankulo.
Train
A six-times-weekly passenger train connects Nampula and Cuamba.
