Getting There & Away
Transport in Gurúè departs from near the market at the lower end of town.
Nampula From Nampula, take any bus to Alto Molócuè (Mtc200), where you can then
get a waiting chapa on to Gurúè (Mtc200). Going in the other direction, you'll need to de-
part Gurúè by 5am at the latest for Nampevo junction to get a connection on to Nampula.
Quelimane For connections to/from Quelimane, there's a daily direct chapa departing at
4.30am (Mtc300, six hours); buy tickets the day before. Otherwise there are several
vehicles daily to Mocuba (Mtc200, 3½ to four hours), from where you can continue to
Quelimane.
Via Mutuali It's also possible to take the train from either Nampula or Cuamba to Mutu-
ali, where you'll find a waiting open-backed pick-up truck on to Gurúè (Mtc150, four to
five hours). This works best coming from Cuamba; coming from Nampula, most of the
journey to Gurúè will be at night. There's also usually one vehicle daily between Cuamba
and Gurúè (Mtc200 to Mtc250, five hours). To Milange, it's fastest to go via Mocuba.
