Bus & Chapa
All transport leaves from the main bus station Offline map Google map , near the train sta-
tion.
Tete & Maputo Buses depart daily at 4am to Tete (Mtc400, seven hours) and between
2.30am and 4am to Maputo (Mtc1200, 14 hours).
Vilankulo There's no direct bus; take the Maputo bus and get dropped at Pambara junc-
tion. While the price should be pro-rated, it's difficult from Chimoio to get the drivers to
come down from the full Mtc1200.
Beira & Manica To Beira (Mtc200, three hours) and Manica (Mtc25, one hour) chapas
run throughout the day.
Quelimane & Nampula To Quelimane (Mtc550, eight hours) and Nampula (Mtc1200, 15
hours), there are departures three times weekly on Maning Nice.
Taxi
Chimoio has a few taxis; find them in front of the park on Avenida 25 de Setembro or by
the market.
Around Chimoio
About halfway between Chimoio and Manica is Chicamba Real Dam (Barragem de Ch-
icamba Real), set among low hills, and popular with bass anglers. Casa Msika (
251-66044; www.casamsika.com ; campsite per person Mtc125, d Mtc1060, 3-/4-person
chalets Mtc1670/1940; ) has lakeside camping with a good setting (but dirty ablutions
facilities), simple rooms and chalets overlooking the lake, and a restaurant. Advance
bookings are essential on weekends and holidays. From Chimoio, head west for about
45km to the signposted turn-off, from where Casa Msika is about 4km further. There's no
public transport, but transfers from Chimoio can be arranged.
Manica
Tiny Manica, 70km west of Chimoio, is situated in what was once the heart of the king-
dom of Manica and an important gold-trading area.
