Opposite Hotel
Tivoli, this place has modern rooms, although most have only interior windows; ask for a
room to the front for more views. Despite this drawback, it is a clean, secure option in the
baixa. There is no breakfast.
Hotel Tivoli $$$
( 23-320300; bookings.tivolibeira@tdhotels.com; cnr Avenida de Bagamoyo & Rua da
Madeira; s/d US$190/228; )
Small and tidy albeit rather faded rooms with TV
and amenities in a high-rise in the baixa. Downstairs is a sleek restaurant/bar. Buffet
breakfast is included in the price.

; Makuti Beach; campsite per person

Set on a breezy rise overlooking Makuti beach at the end of Avenida das
FPLM, this long-standing camping ground remains popular, as does the bar-restaurant. It's
the only camping in town, and a good spot for watching the sunset. Take any
chapa
to-
wards Makuti and ask them to drop you at the turnoff, from where it's about 400m further
on foot.

HOTEL

)
The Miramar has reasonably priced, no-frills rooms - some with private bathroom, most
with TV - near the water (no beach), but inconvenient for the rest of town.
Pensão Moderna $
( 23-329901; Rua Alferes da Silva; d/tr Mtc1755/2750)
One of the better budget bets,
with adequate rooms, most with fan and shared bathroom. It's two blocks south of the
cathedral.
