If you're driving to Inhambane, take the shortcut road signposted to the east about
20km south of Maxixe in the Agostinho Neto area.
Massinga
The bustling district capital of Massinga is a convenient stocking up point, with numerous
shops, a petrol station and garage.
There are several ATMs, including Millennium BIM Offline map Google map (one block
west of the N1) and BCI Offline map Google map (N1) , at the southern end of town.
For accommodation, try Dalilo's Hotel ( 293-71043; N1; tw with/without bathroom
from Mtc800/550; ) at the northern end of town, with meals at Dalilo's Restaurant
(N1; meals from Mtc180) , just south of Dalilo's Hotel.
Getting There & Away
Most north-south buses stop at Massinga. The first departure to Maputo (Mtc550, eight
hours) is by about 6am. Going north, buses from Maputo begin to arrive in Massinga by
about 11am, en route to Vilankulo.
TROPIC OF CAPRICORN
There are no signs marking the spot, but you cross the Tropic of Capricorn (the southernmost latitude - 22.5° - at
which the sun is directly overhead) about 15km south of Massinga town on the border between Massinga and
Morrumbene districts.
Morrungulo
About 8km north of Massinga is the signposted turn-off for Morrungulo Beach (Praia de
Morrungulo), a stunning stretch of coastline. Ponta Morrungulo ( 293-70101;
