105; ) In a fine seaside location (though not all rooms manage to have full sea views),
this motel is a throwback to colonial days. It has a restaurant that does seafood grills, a
1960s ambience and blocks of faded but nevertheless quite pleasant two-storey self-cater-
ing chalets.
HOTEL

the Catholic church, this efficient place has rows of closely spaced stone-and-thatch cot-
tages with bathrooms, all set in a rather featureless compound redeemed by its location
just in from the beach and its good facilities. There's also a restaurant, an open-air bar fa-
cing the sea, a grill area, a full range of activities (including a dive operator), and transfers
to/from South Africa and Maputo. The dorm rooms have air-con and private bathroom.
BUNGALOW

small rooms in reed chalets closely spaced around a tiny garden behind the restaurant. All
have nets, fans and shared bathrooms with hot water. It's perched on a hilltop in the town
centre about 200m in from the beach; look for the bright orange building. If you're after
some quiet, midweek is best; on weekends the bar has music until dawn.
