Getting There & Away
Air
CFA Charters ( www.cfa.co.za ) does occasional charters to Inhaca from Mtc8000 per per-
son return.
Boat
The Vodacom ferry Offline map Google map ( 84-220 1610; www.inhaca.co.mz ;
10.30am-5pm Mon, Wed, Thur & Fri) departs from Maputo's Porto da Pesca Offline map
Google map (off Rua Marques de Pombal) at 8am on Saturday and Sunday (Mtc1700 re-
turn, two hours). Departures from Inhaca are at 3pm.
There is also a boat departing from the Catembe ferry pier at 7am on Tuesday,
Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (Mtc550 one-way, 1 ½ to two hours). Departures from In-
haca are at 2pm.
Maputo Yachting ( 84-900 9899; www.maputoyachting.com ) does sailing charters
to Inhaca and nearby Cape Santa Maria. For speedboat charters, contact Mozambique
Charters ( 84-323 6420; www.mozambiquecharters.com ) . The ride takes about one
hour, and can be rough during the windy months of August and September. All boats drop
you at the beach in front of Pestana Inhaca Lodge, and usually stop at Portuguese Island
en route. Transport to Portuguese Island is also easy to arrange with local fishermen on
the beach in front of Pestana Inhaca Lodge, and at low tide it's sometimes possible to
walk from Inhaca. Dana Tours ( Click here ) also organises Inhaca excursions.
Getting Around
Car hire with a driver can be arranged at Restaurante Lucas ( Click here ) or Pestana In-
haca Lodge ( Click here ) from about US$80 per day.
Marracuene & Macaneta Beach
Macaneta is the closest open-ocean beach to Maputo, with stiff sea breezes and long
stretches of dune-fringed coast. It's on a narrow peninsula divided from the mainland by
the Nkomati River, and is reached via Marracuene, 35km north of Maputo along the N1.
