( 0212-617450; Buteko Ave; adult/child ZMW25/10; 9am-4.30pm) The Copperbelt
Museum showcases the local industry and downstairs there are billboards with displays on
Zambia's mining history, gemstones and the processing of copper. Upstairs is more inter-
esting with artefacts used in witchcraft, personal ornaments, smoking and snuffing
paraphernalia, and musical instruments such as talking drums. At the entrance there is a
well-stocked craft shop.

Mupapa Slave Tree
Offline map Google map
(Makoli Ave) A short walk from the Copperbelt Museum, the old Mupapa Slave Tree is of
great historical importance. The shade from this ancient pod mahogany tree was used as a
meeting place by Swahili slave-traders. It's a bit neglected nowadays but can easily be
spotted by the steel fence surrounding its girth.
