Connecting Runs of Thread
Knots make poor electrical connectors, so try to plan out how
much thread you'll need for each run. A continuous piece of
thread is a much better conductor than one that has been cob-
bled together with multiple pieces. Nail polish insulates, so if
you must join two pieces of thread, make an area of overlapping
stitches to increase the contact surface area, then tie the
square knot adjacent to them instead of relying on the knot to
transmit electrons.

Buses with a Sewing Machine
For long runs of far-away components, you may want to double,
triple, or even quadruple your conductive thread. Rather than
making four lines of a running stitch, you can lay multiple
strands of conductive thread together on the fabric and use a
sewing machine with a zigzag stitch to attach the thread “bus”
to your fabric ( Figure 4-11 ).
