With your soldering iron ready, heat up the joint you wish to sol-
der. Then, touch the end of the solder to the joint. Make sure the
solder flows freely between the two pieces you are trying to con-
nect. If the solder does not melt, heat up the joint for another
minute and try again. After you have applied the solder, allow it
to cool completely before clipping the excess wire and testing
the connection.

Washing Your Wearable Projects
While you shouldn't expose your homemade circuits to water
while they're on, you can wash your FLORA projects by first
removing the battery. Be sure to read the care instructions
accompanying your garment if applicable, but generally we rec-
ommend hand washing your wearable, then letting it dry com-
pletely before plugging the battery back in. Stainless steel
thread doesn't tarnish or corrode, and if dried thoroughly, your
circuit boards should fare just as well. Overly agitating your cir-
cuit (for instance, by putting it in the washer or dryer) can
loosen the thread connections, which could reduce your proj-
ect's useful life.
