trode of 5 cm in diameter is used, a 5-cm beam of electric field to a distance
of 20 cm between a pair of electrodes can be obtained, for example.
Based on the same principle, another type of capacitive heating applicator
has been developed. Figure 4.11 shows a heating system for treatment of a
body cavity tumor. One electrode is placed on the surface of the body and
the other electrode is inserted into the site of the tumor in the body cavity.
This electrode is covered by balloon made of silicon rubber and mounted
thermosensor. Maximum power is 250 W and the frequency is 13.56 MHz.
As a very similar RF dielectric heating applicator, a small electrode
consisting of needles (inner hooks) has been developed as the treatment for
