LOSMEN
Wisma Alya $
( 0821 5330 8276; r 150,000Rp) Backpacker heaven! This two-storey cabin with
rough-hewn wooden walls (the green house as you enter town) has five identical rooms,
four upstairs accessed via a steep ladder and one down. They're bare as can be, with a
floor mattress and small window, but the entire building is perched on rushing Sungai
Amandit, with an overhanging balcony affording great views of the mountains. The
shared mandi is large, clean and powered by mountain water. Laundry and ojeks are on of-
fer, and the market is across the street. A sense of serenity sinks deeply into you here, en-
suring a great night's sleep.
Amandit River Lodge $
( 0813 4826 3467; r 200,000Rp) It's too bad this lodge lies 3km from town, because it
has a stunning location, with the river winding in front and a dramatic piton rising behind.
If you have your own transport, though, the simple en suite rooms with Western toilets are
good value. Open by appointment, so call ahead and speak with the resident caretaker.
