Unlike other Swiss-Bels, this one eschews modern business
decor in favour of a traditional boutique feel, to include a Banjar roof and the warm use of
wood throughout. Prices quoted are after the standard discount. Junior suite 201
(1,590,000Rp) is exceptionally nice, a corner room with both city and river views. The
hotel restaurant is also a top-choice listing, and there's live jazz from 8pm to 11pm.

The riverside location makes this hotel stand out. Interest-
ingly, certain 'classic' rooms (eg 323) have a better view than more expensive ones. The
show-stealer is the Victoria Suite (1,200,000Rp), one of the most stylish rooms in Kali-
mantan, with such touches as a flat-screen TV embedded in a glass wall, and a waterfront
verandah. The coffee shop is nicely situated too, although the breakfast doesn't equal the
view. Ask about discounts.

Pop-
ular with tourists, this excellent budget choice features 40 Caribbean-hued rooms around
an inner atrium, many of them with air-con and en suites. There's no hot water, but staff
speak English so at least they will understand your complaint.
