Getting There & Away
Frequent buses go southwest to Kuala Belait (B$1, three times an hour from 6.30am to
6.15pm) and northeast to BSB (B$6, 2½ hours, every 30 to 60 minutes until about 5pm)
via Tutong.
Kuala Belait
POP 35,500
Almost on the Sarawak frontier, coastal Kuala Belait (KB) is a modern, sprawling com-
pany town - the company being Brunei Shell - of one-storey suburban villas interspersed
with grasshopper-like pump jacks. Although there's a reasonable beach, most travellers
just hustle through on their way to or from Miri.
Sleeping & Eating
In the town centre, restaurants can be found along Jln McKerron and, two short blocks
east, on parallel Jln Pretty, KB's main commercial avenue. Locals recommend the roast
duck.

one block south of the bus station.
