Tabin can be accessed with a rental vehicle (4WD is a must), but most folks arrange
transport with Tabin Wildlife. There are several entrances to the reserve; the easiest one to
navigate to is near the junction of Ladan Tungju and Ladang Premai (it's 15km from La-
had Datu Airport to Ladang Kajai).
Semporna

Most travellers, upon reaching Semporna, turn into little kids on a long car trip: 'But how
much
longer
till we get there', with 'there' being Sipadan. Semporna-the-town is the
mainland stopping point before Semporna -the-archipelago and all your diving/snorkelling
fantasies. Unless you're lucky enough to get here early in the morning, there's a good
chance you'll be sticking around overnight. Semporna's fine for an evening of carousing
at a bar before donning your fins or checking out the
pasar ikan
(fish markets) and water
villages; past that, enjoy your sleep. Not much longer, kids.
