Getting Around
SUBWAY
The developing subway system in Haidian is making this part of town seem closer to the
city center every year. It currently has five lines that pass through it, including Lines 4, 6,
9, 10, and 13, all of these making getting to university or work in the tech parks extremely
convenient. By 2014 Haidian will also have the Western Suburban Line, which will provide
direct access to the Summer Palace, the Botanical Garden, and Xiangshan, and by 2016
there will be Line 16, which will start in Fengtai district in the south, travel northwards
inside Line 10, then up and out to the east side of Jiufeng National Forest Park and Yang-
taishan Natural Scenic Area. There are also plans to connect Haidian directly to Tongzhou
in the southeast of the city via rapid transport. As to when this will be completed, no one is
yet sure.
TRAINS
There are no major train terminals in Haidian, but you can board trains at Qinghuayuan
Railway Station, just north of Zhichunlu subway station (Lines 10 and 13), and Qinghe
Railway Station, just north of Shangdi subway station (Line 13). The various S2 trains pass
through both stations on their way to and from Badaling and Beijing North Station at Xizhi-
men, as do the 4471-4474 trains on their way to and from Chengde in Hebei province. Vis-
