ulent apartments that cost up to around RMB30,000 per month. If apartment living just
isn't your cup of tea, something more humble and family friendly can be had at City House
( 倚林佳园 ), which comes about as close to a house and village experience as you can get
in the inner city. It has the Olympic Forest Park at its door, and homes are low-density
townhouse-style buildings. Rental prices range RMB15,000-22,000 for three- or four-bed-
room apartments. For something a little lighter on the wallet, try Wanda Lake Palace (
达大湖公馆 ), which has large landscaped gardens and modern apartments ranging in price
RMB11,000-25,000. There is, however, no need to spend even this much, and with the help
of a local realtor you can easily find two-bedroom apartments for under RMB8,000 per
month within the neighborhood.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Unlike Dongcheng and Xicheng districts, which both have purpose-built churches, when
it comes to Christian religions at least, Chaoyang has more of a makeshift arrangement.
Christians and Catholics congregate in multi-use venues, and Christian groups, in particu-
lar, are typically interdenominational rather than representatives of a specific religious or-
der. Beijing Chaoyang Church, a Christian church, is one of the few actual buildings dedic-
ated to Christian worship in the district.
Many of the groups that do operate here are focused directly at the expat community,
with the majority of sermons and other communication in English. Be aware that due to
local laws you need to have your passport on you when you attend such services.
The two main Christian organizations in Chaoyang are the Beijing International Chris-
tian Fellowship (BICF, www.bicf.org ) and the Congregation of the Good Shepherd
(COGS, www.cogs-bj.org ). BICF's Chaoyang meeting place is at the 21st Century Hotel
Auditorium, located near the corner of Liangmaqiao Lu and Chaoyang Gongyuan Lu
(Chaoyang Park Road), about 800 meters east of Liangmaqiao subway station (Line 10, exit
C). COGS gatherings take place at the Capital Club Athletic Center at Capital Mansion, just
a short walk west from Liangmaqiao subway station (Line 10, exit D), on Xinyuan Nanlu.
Both organizations embrace denominational diversity and follow a Christ-centered belief.
If you'd like to enjoy worship inside a church, visit Beijing Chaoyang Church (60
