In-Depth Information
in the area is the proximity to the two major international hospitals, Beijing United Family
Hospital (BJU) and Oasis International Hospital. Compared to many of the inner city areas,
Lido has an almost village feel to it. Relative to the inner city, Lido is still heavily depend-
ent on road transport, and come rush hour, the roads can become horrendously choked. But
when the subway's north-south section (phase II) of Line 14 is completed in 2014, things
will hopefully improve.
Housing
Compared to the inner city, there are some great-value apartments out this way. One-bed-
room abodes may not seem much different, but you can easily find modern two- or three-
bedroom apartments for RMB20,000-25,000 per month. Just a few worth looking at include
Upper East Side (Sunny Shandong), Richmond Park, Chateau Regency, or, for something
not quite as fancy but extraordinarily convenient, try Hairun International Apartments.
These apartments are just above Jenny Wang's as well as Tom's, one of the best DVD shops
in town, and are a short walk from Beijing United Family Hospital as well as Indigo Mall.
WANGJING
Wangjing is already close to becoming an uninterrupted extension of Sanyuanqiao. It also

including Siemens, Panasonic, Ericsson, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson. Gluing them all to-
gether is the Wangjing Science and Technology Park (also known as Wangjing Pioneer
Park), which aggressively targets entrepreneurial h ǎ igu ī , the overseas educated Chinese
who now return to China. In 2014 Wangjing will be pushed even further in its status as
a business center by claiming Beijing's next piece of world-attention-gaining architecture.
Wangjing SOHO ( http://wangjingsoho.sohochina.com/en ), the second striking SOHO com-
plex to be designed by the Zaha Hadid group, is due for completion at this time. In addi-
tion to it high-tech persona, Wangjing is also known for its South Korean population. The
area has attracted so many Korean residents over the years that it's somewhat of a Korea
Town. It's one of the best places to go to for authentic Korean cuisine, and if you like to
buy Korean ingredients then the possibly overwhelming Nanhu market is an exciting place
to visit.
Housing
There is a nice selection of housing options in Wangjing, and many are very reasonably
priced by Beijing standards. If you require premium-level accommodations, then there
