Religious Services
There are several religious services in the area, covering various religions. For Islam, there
is Dongsi Mosque. This ancient building was built in 1356 and rebuilt in 1447. It's just a
couple of minutes' walk from Dongsi subway station, exit D.
Protestants can attend Chongwenmen Church, one of the biggest Protestant churches in
the city, and an easy walking distance from exit B of Chongwenmen subway station. The
services are in Chinese, but with English interpretation. Providing Chinese-only services,
Zhushikou Church is located just near Qianmen, and Kuanjie Church is just near the south
end of Nanluoguxiang on Jixiang Hutong. For English services, head to Haidian Christian
Church.
Roman Catholics can visit St. Joseph's (also known as Wangfujing Church or East
Cathedral). An impressive building from the 1600s and renovated in 2000, it's not hard to
miss as you walk up Wangfujing Dajie. Services are in Chinese and Latin, and in English on
