Public bike kiosks are found throughout the city, offering everyone a convenient and cheap way to
get around.
Scooters are also prolific in the city and can start from around RMB1,500 for a gas-
powered one, and RMB2,000 for an electric one, depending on the style you want. Electric
bikes and scooters—or e-scooters—don't need a license. The downside of these bikes is that
they tend to break down or have little problems from time to time; the upside is that these
are usually cheap and quick to fix. Though some of these can zip along at 40-50 kilometers
per hour (25-31 mph), they're ridden in the bike lanes, not on the main road. An infuriating
given with an e-scooter is that at some point someone is going to steal your battery. Take it
