Tax in China can be baffling. Tax laws are constantly changing, many are not explicitly
published, and those that are don't always mirror what happens in practice. Laws also differ

Individual Income Tax (IIT) in China is typically managed by your company, so for gen-
eral employees, there is very little to do or worry about if your company is doing things by
the topic. Your tax will be taken each month from your salary and there is no “doing your
taxes” at the end of the financial year. Just be sure to keep your pay slips. You are legally
