In-Depth Information
If the company is not offering you a Z visa, then steer clear. This should immediately
set off alarm bells in your head about this employer and their credibility. At the same time,
check that they are registering you for your work permit in the same city that you'll be
working in. Some companies sidestep various business restrictions by registering staff in
cities outside of Beijing. This is illegal. Other suspicion triggers should include disregard
for SAFEA's requirements and an offer that just seems too good to be true. A reasonable
contract and salary offer may include a contract of one to three years, a monthly salary of
around RMB10,000-20,000 before tax (full-time), return airfare after one year of service,
private health insurance (domestic or international), social insurance, paid holidays and sick
leave, and possibly accommodations, especially for the first few weeks if they are bringing

adults and children alike are highly respectful and easily coerced into singing, dancing, or
role playing for the sake of improving their English.

incentives offered. For example, in the current Five Year Plan (2011-2015), just a few of
the goals are to achieve an increase in domestic consumption; to spend 2.2 percent of GDP
on R&D relating to innovation; to reduce energy consumption and increase use of green en-

of these areas, it could be the perfect time for you in Beijng.
There is particular emphasis right now on innovation. “In the West, businesses are look-
