EXPAT INTERVIEW: STUDENT LIVING
Robin Lin is a Taiwanese American studying at Beijing Normal University. She's
currently enrolled in a master's program for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
WHICH DO YOU PREFER—ON CAMPUS OR OFF?
Having studied in Beijing for the past four years, and having had the experience
of living in both on-campus and off-campus situations, I can confidently choose
the former. The idea of living in the dorms may not seem like such a good idea to
people who've already gone through that rite of passage during their bachelor's back
home—I certainly wouldn't do it again if I went back home—but in Beijing the ad-
vantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
