stop, not Shunyi station, which is much farther along in central Shunyi. A taxi from the in-
ner city should take 30-60 minutes and may cost close to RMB90.
Just some of the schools in the area include the British School of Beijing (BSB),
Dulwich College Beijing, Eatonkids International School, and the International School of
Beijing (ISB) on the Shunyi side of the river, and the toddler to year 2 campus of Dulwich
College Beijing, the International Montessori School of Beijing, Ivy Bilingual School, and
Western Academy Beijing (WAB) on the Chaoyang side. Remember to book in with each
school ahead of time so that you're ready to roll with appointments, and ask the school to
help you meet up with some other parents for a chat while you're there.
You may also want to try to see some homes in the area. Some of the estates popular
with expats include Dragon Bay Villas, Yosemite, Capital Paradise, River Garden, and Le-
gend Garden on the Shunyi side, and Beijing Riviera and Lane Bridge on the Chaoyang
side. Real estate agents can show you through homes, but a good place to start is at the club
house of each compound.
For lunch or dinner, there is plenty on offer around Pinnacle Plaza and Europlaza. Noth-
ing here is particularly Chinese, and, in fact, it's perhaps the most Western-style place in
Beijing. Staying around the neighborhood to eat, however, will give you the perfect op-
portunity to chat with a nearby table of foreigners about their personal experiences. Expats
in Beijing are almost uniformly friendly and will no doubt give you their opinion about
schools and life in Shunyi.
