dAtA And MethodoLogY
The research was conducted in 2007/2008. The
questionnaires with introduction letters were
sent to 300 large companies, 300 medium sized
companies and 600 small companies. The number
of questionnaires mailed to small companies was
double the number of medium-sized and large
companies because small companies constitute
the highest proportion of companies and based on
experience, they are less likely to respond. Lists
of addresses and information about the number
of employees and turnover were retrieved from
National Statistical Bureau.
The questionnaire survey is mainly based on
criteria identified by Bernroider and Koch (2001)
and supported from other data in the field. Criteria
used in the research were grouped into four groups:
ERP benefits criteria (enhanced decision making,
improved service levels/quality, reduced cycle
times, business process improvement, enabler for
desired business processes, integrated and better
quality of information, increased organizational
flexibility, increased customer satisfaction, im-
proved innovation capabilities), system quality
criteria (system flexibility, system functional-
ity, system usability, system interoperability,
internationality of system, system reliability and
operating system independence), vendor related
criteria (vendor support, vendor reputation and
market position of vendor) and ERP package
criteria (short implementation time, software costs
(licenses, maintenance), e-business enablement,
organizational fit of system, connectivity (intra/
extranet, mobile, etc.), advanced technology,
incorporation of business best practice, availabil-
