In the first phase “Identifying modeling context” ,
the modeler must specify the modeling context:
the motivation for reverse-engineering and its
scope, i.e., the set of global processes that must
be modeled.
Facilitate process execution.
Adapt easily processes with their
environment.
For example the objective of the reverse-
engineering of academic the web application is
to provide understandable process models by the
managers of the application in the university insti-
tutions. Thus the objective is to enhance process
comprehension and communication.
Identifying Motivations
Several motivations may enhance the leaders of
organizations to adopt a reverse-engineering ap-
proach for their business processes. These reasons
result from the need to change or reformulate
the vision of the enterprise. Generally reverse
engineering is followed by a phase of reengineer-
ing. Therefore, considering reverse-engineering
motivations should allow flexible models to be

In most cases the modeling scope is determined
