With the mountains in view, we worked hard to cover the final 120 kilo-
metres. We started off well, but it wasn't long before we reached some
of the worst ice rubble we've hit so far. However, with Canada finally
in sight nothing can dampen my spirits. After two gruelling hours of
lifting and hauling the sleds, our hard work was rewarded when we
emerged into a good flat stretch to finish the day. I am sure that there's
a guardian angel looking after me.

This morning was noticeably colder than yesterday. It's amazing how
fast the conditions change here. My hands were freezing all day, and
nothing I did made any difference. I tried clenching my fists 100 times
each within my mitts, shaking them, and so on, but nothing worked. It
was bloody uncomfortable.
Thank God the polar bears continue to leave us alone, although
