My thoughts drift towards Cas and Jonesy, and I wonder if they will
make it out of that God-forsaken place on time. They looked in bad
shape when I met them: their supplies were low, and their faces were
covered in wind burn and cold sores. All I can do for them is say a silent
prayer and keep them in my thoughts as I run down the highway.
After the ice, my legs feel thick and heavy, like tree trunks. Swell-
ing and bruising appeared as soon as I started running on roads again.
I have cut the toe boxes out of my running shoes to give my toes some
space.

This is a beautiful country. I am near to Río Mayo, and I've been running
through wide plains and farmland. The wild life is also astounding. So
far I've seen a type of native cat, llamas, silver foxes, skunks, a creature
that looked like a mink or a mongoose, rabbits, hares and glorious pink
