I have been out-voted and my polar guide, Eric, and the cameraman
will be accompanying me in Antarctica in the six-wheel drive vehicle
rather than on the skidoos I had insisted upon. They have always said
they need it, to be a base for us and to facilitate the filming. As I've said,
the vehicle is very much more expensive than the skidoos, but Greg has
raised the money to fund it. The other problem that I see with the six-
wheel drive is that we are now locked in to a schedule. We have booked
the vehicle from December 29 to January 26. We now have to fly from
Punta Arenas in Chile to the northern tip of Antarctica on December
29, I must take no more than 28 days to reach the South Pole—that's
