care of them, and they're not repairing naturally. I first damaged my
lips on the ice, when I put on a frozen face mask and it stuck to my
cheeks, nose and lips. By the time I got it off, it had burned my skin.
On a more positive note, there is an abundance of fresh produce—

Karl Stefanovic: Pat Farmer is pushing the limits of
human endurance with his pole-to-pole run. He's covered
11,000 kilometres from the North Pole to Ecuador, and that's
where I caught up with him a little earlier. Pat, how are you?
Pat Farmer: Karl, old mate, physically I'm a wreck, but mentally

and Colombia and some of the mountains of Colombia. It's been

the right creams into my legs every night and taking in vitamins,
but you have to understand that I've run 11,000 kilometres to
this point through some of the most extreme temperatures and
environments on earth.
KS: Are you worried that this might do your body harm long term?
PF: I'm not concerned about that. I've always been a person who
lives for the moment, and this is the moment. Apart from my
children and family, this run is all that matters to me on earth at
this point in time. I have to make this run a success. I have to finish
this thing. I have been renowned for finishing what I start, and
