There were times today when I wished I could stop running and call in
to one of the small churches I passed for a little quiet reflection. Sure,
I get plenty of time to think on the road, but reflecting while sitting or
even kneeling is preferable. I followed a river course for most of the
day, and, although it is winding, the terrain is much flatter than any-
thing I have experienced for several weeks. My legs feel like they are
encased in heavy steel callipers. Never again will I take for granted my
ability to put one foot in front of the other and run.
I hope Bernie returns soon from visiting his family in Australia,
because we need the Winnebago and all the gear in it, not least my
running shoes. I've had to buy an emergency pair. Hurry up, brother.
