My feet are the worst they have ever been and feel like minced
meat. I'm still running in the hiking boots I used in the DariƩn, because
the Winnebago with my running shoes in it is still at the border, wait-
ing for Bernie to arrive from Australia and catch up with us. The heat is
affecting me badly, and I fainted twice today, once at the 50-kilometre
mark and then again at the finish. My body is covered in salt from sweat.
The countryside is lush and green, and the villages and towns
seem as though they are in carnival mode every night. The streets are
mad with motorcycles. There is no accommodation, so tonight we are
sleeping in the van in the grounds of the police station.

Mountain after mountain after mountain. Today, all I could achieve
by dark was 81 kilometres, and it took me 15 hours. I was aiming for
90 kilometres. Doubts are starting to enter my mind over whether I can
