Costa Rica and Panama—are geographically small, in comparison to
Canada, the United States and Mexico; this will help me mentally, as I
will be going through them much faster.
Good things came in the shape of my brother Tony, who joined
us today and will be with us for a few weeks. Like Bernie, he's reliable,
practical and calm in a crisis.
I started running late today, which I always hate, because it's hard
to pull back the time. I felt very sluggish and weak in the legs. I had
no energy and felt constipated, but I knew that this would be my last
day in Mexico so I persevered with it. Tony saddled up the push bike
and kept me company. We talked about the building trade in Australia
and started designing a home for when I get this run over and done
with. When I ran across the United States in 1993, I designed my whole
home at Catherine Field in my head, right down to which way the
doors would swing. Such thoughts help to pass the long, lonely hours.
Thirty kilometres into the run today, the camera crew received
an urgent message from Greg Quail that we had to film a commercial
for our sponsor Blackmores, and that it had to be done by the end of
