I've had thousands of blisters in my time and have worked out
an effective way of treating them. The worst thing you can do is
leaveablisterunattended,hopingitwillgoaway:itwillsplitopen
of its own accord, leaving a gaping wound that is easily infected.
Instead, grab a sterilised needle and thread and carefully pierce
the blister. Ever so carefully, push the needle through and out the
other side, then cut each end of the thread so it is left in the blister.
This allows the fluid to weep out through the cotton, and in a short
time the blister will dry out. All that's left are two tiny dots. Then,
covertheareainsecondskin:jellyencasedinplasticwithmicro-
holes that allow the sore to breathe and repair itself. Finally, stick
a small tape bandage over the area to prevent dirt getting in.
