We are currently 60 kilometres south of Matagami. When we were in
the town, I did a live cross to a Canadian TV news show. The telecast
sparked donations to the website: fantastic! The Canadian people
we've met have been friendly and generous: nothing seems to be a
problem. They've been curious about what I'm doing, and when I've
explained to them my quest, they've been very supportive. I need
big turnouts if I'm going to raise the necessary donations; that's why
media coverage is vital. So far, because I've been off the radar in the
North Pole and out of contact with other, more sensible humans, the
donations have been disappointing. But I keep telling myself that
as I cross Canada and the United States, passing through big towns,
appearing on TV and being interviewed for newspaper articles, the
donations will begin to roll in.
