Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, also known as the Domes

The progressive Central United Methodist Church (639 N. 25th St., 414/344-1600, tours
byappointment,free)ispartiallyenclosedbyearthandincorporatessignificantenergy-sav-
ing and solar-energy measures (the tower holds solar panels).
It's not a church per se, but the Tripoli Shrine Temple (3000 W. Wisconsin Ave.,
9am-4pm Mon.-Fri., free) is worth a look, if only for the oddly appealing Taj Mahal nature
of the place. It was built during the 1920s and was indeed based on the Taj Mahal of India.
The main dome is 30 feet in diameter and is flanked by two smaller domes. Camels, lan-
terns, floral designs, and other works of art decorate the interiors.
