In-Depth Information
Two more trails follow the woodland topography off the bluff (you can combine these).
Another good idea is to connect them and then take a leg of the Ice Age National Scenic
Trail loop, whichyoucomeacross; thisinturnrunsintothe Parfrey's Glen Ice Age Trail.
Many of these trails are used in winter for cross-country skiing, and eight miles are also
available for mountain biking (so be sure you know if you're on a bike-friendly trail). The

Other Recreation
The hard quartzite bluffs of the park are ready-made for excellent rock climbing. It is, in
fact, the only state park permitting rock climbing in Wisconsin. At one time, it maintained

at your own risk.
The name Devil's Lake was applied since no one ever really knew just how deep the
foreboding icy lake was—and no one really wanted to find out. If you're interested in
plumbing those depths, 3 Little Devils (S5780 WI 123, 608/356-5866) is a full-service
scuba operation with equipment, training, repair, rental, and air fills.
