Up the road a half-mile is the Belmont Mound State Park, a day-use park with some
trailsleadingtothemounditself.Themoundwasusedbythefirstlegislatorsasalandmark
while traversing the prairies to find Belmont, no doubt wondering the entire way what they
were doing there in the first place.
